Bhuvanaiah and Ray (2014) classified the concept of "employee engagement" into five levels with reference to the level of individual contribution towards organizational achievement and satisfaction.
- The engaged are highly productive and the happiest.
- Almost Engaged: Reasonably productive and content with their current position.
- Honeymooners and Hamsters: highly satisfied but contribute little to organizational success.
- Crash Burners: highly productive, contribute the most to an organization's success, but are unhappy with their personal success.
- Disengaged: high levels of dissatisfaction with organizational approaches.
